El Castillo Hotel

El Castillo Hotel and Villa Rentals is located in the charming village of Ojochal, 32 kilometers (20 miles) south of Dominical. There are two ways to get here: Driving or flying.

By Car or Private Transportation from San Jose:

We can help you to rent a car or arrange private transportation to get here. By car, it is a scenic drive and you can either come through the mountains or the coastal highway.

Getting to El Castillo Hotel through the mountain:

We highly recommend to drive this road during the day to avoid rain and/or fog. From San Jose, take the Pan American Highway South towards Cartago, following signs to San Isidro del General and to Dominical. Once you get to the Costanera (coastal highway) in Dominical you will turn left (south) and drive about 30 minutes to Ojochal, mile marker 176-177. Once you reach Ojochal, pass the main entrance and make first left. You will see our sign on the costanera. This route is about a 4.5 hour drive.

Getting to El Castillo Hotel through the coastal highway:

From the Juan Santamaria International Airport (Alajuela) drive west, follow the sign to Orotina, Jaco and Quepos/Manuel Antonio. Drive south from Quepos (Manuel Antonio National Park) along the coastal road to Dominical. You will continue to Ojochal, mile marker 176-177. Once you reach Ojochal, pass the main entrance and make the first left off the costanera. You will see our sign.
If you prefer we can arrange private transportation and you can have your car rental waiting for you upon your arrival at our hotel.

By Domestic Airlines, Car Rental or Private Transportation from Palmar Sur:

Getting to us by air: Flying is a good alternative since you will be here in about 50 minutes. There are two local airlines: Sansa Airlines (www.sansaairlines.com) and Nature Air (www.natureair.com) Both airlines offer one daily morning flight from San Jose to Palmar Sur. Be sure to check the maximum luggage allowed. The price per person is approx. 106.00 U$D one way and 212.00 U$D round trip. Once you have landed in Palmar Sur the driving takes about 30 minutes to our hotel. We can help you arrange a car rental that will be waiting for you at Palmar Sur airport or private transportation. Please ask us for availability and prices.

By Domestic Airlines, Car Rental or Private Transportation from Quepos / Manuel Antonio:

If the daily flight to Palmar Sur does not work with your international flight arrival time, from San Jose you can fly to Quepos where there are flights from morning to afternoon, using Sansa www.flysansa.com or Nature Air www.natureair.com. A rental car can also be arranged and waiting for you at the Quepos Airport.
